Walking out of school couldn’t have been better.   I got the best news regarding my project, Ben Feeds Back.  My mom showed me the coolest article that was written about me and what I’m doing.   It’s all over the internet.

Check it out: http://www.azcentral.com/story/entertainment/dining/2014/08/15/gourmet-surprise-dinner-umom/14086607/

This is a great thing for UMOM.   The more people that know about them, the more money they can raise and the more people they can help.

If you haven’t donated yet, what are you waiting for?   Especially is you live in AZ.   Take advantage of the working poor tax credit!

People are so amazing! I have got so many emails its unreal. People are so generous and a lot want to help me and support UMOM.

My mom wanted me to ask one of my supporters to give more. I was hesitant to. But I did. My lesson, when you ask for something you have a better chance of getting it than if you don’t ask. He said yes.

I can’t be any happier because a lot of people have asked to help and a lot of people donated money. I even got my first request from the media… Stay tuned.

Worked on all my social media stuff with my mom. It took us forever and she said we have more to do. She just read me a list of all the things I need to pull this off and have the meal cooked. Makes me excited to see things coming together but I am overwhelmed. I didn’t realize how much work this was going to be.

Website, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, supporters, suppliers, email….. so much needs to happen so I can spread the word. My mom lined up an event company to help with linens and decorations while I was at camp. I still need so much stuff, she keeps telling me. It’s getting frustrating.

My mom and I have looked at several homeless shelters and soup kitchens but they were not the right fit for what I wanted to do. Finally, we connected with UMOM. They only take care of homeless families. We are going to be feeding around 200 people. I need to get a ton more sponsors. This is going to be hard.

I went and spoke to Chef Eddie Matney today. He said he would be my chef, no problem. “Anything you need” was what he said. He also let me go behind the counter and cook with him for a few minutes. He is very cool and nice!

My mom is making me crazy with all the stuff she keeps saying I need to do. The list keeps getting bigger and bigger. Today when we were at lunch, she suggested I speak to the head waiter and see if he would help. He said yes but told me I need at least 20 people to help me. I still don’t have a location… This is going to take a long time.

I went to the Scottsdale farmers market today. I was very nervous but went anyway to look for businesses that would donate the food. Bob McClendon of McClendon Farms was the 1st I spoke to. He was very nice and told me he would be happy to help me. I knew that this was really going to happen at that moment.

I saw a video that gave me the idea of what I want to do for my Mitzvah Project. It showed a guy turning a homeless shelter into a nice restaurant and surprising all the homeless people. They were shocked, happy, and so thankful. He fed them food they never ate before. His idea was more of a prank…. I want to do it and show the people that other people care for them and give them an awesome meal. I told my mom and dad. They thought it was a great idea but would take too long and didn’t want me to do it. But this would make a lot of people feel really special so I convinced my mom to help me.
